You meet him once and you'll never forget him. While his hair may be a different color every time you see him, he is a man with a plan. Jensen's look is as eccentric as Warhol, but his presence is as warm as an old friend's. With a spike through his tongue, a small ring through his nose, and some fierce tattoos on his body, Jensen talks thoughtfully yet fundamentally, letting his expressions tell a deeper side of the story

- The Erie Reader -

Robert Jensen is a multimedia artist and musician based in Erie, PA. A self identifying weirdo, Robert spent his youth immersed in the underground art and music scene. He spent most of his time skateboarding with friends, getting tattoos, piercings & unorthodox haircuts, and making obscene drawings during class. At age 17, Robert suffered severe injuries to his spinal cord after a fight left him paralyzed from the neck down. Instead of letting this life altering situation hold him back, he used it as fuel to pursue his wildest dreams of an artist, musician, and mentor to the Erie community.

"One thing my disability has given me as an artist that sets me above and beyond any other artist is patience. After sitting through quadriplegia, from the point where it began to the point where it is now, I really understand time...Walking with my disability, it's like my endurance is endless. You know I walk very slowly, but f—in'-a, man, I'll walk from here to California"
- Robert Jensen

Robert attended Edinboro University where he received his masters degree in Metalsmithing in 2008, and used this education to create unearthly sculptures and jewelry. In 2015, he opened Erie's only all-ages music venue called Basement Transmissions, which has given local youth a place to hang out and express themselves in a way they couldn't before. When he isn't running shows, Robert spends most of his free time creating in one way or another. His current focuses include papier-mâché sculptures, intense pen & ink drawings, and his newest music project called Blunt Guts, which involves dark electronica music and stop motion animation music videos.
