An experimental, mixed-genre music project by Robert Jensen

After a decade of pioneering electronic music with infamous bands like Pegasus Unicorn and the Jargonauts, artist Robert Jensen took a few years away from playing stages and opened his own music venue in Erie, Pennsylvania called Basement Transmissions. After establishing that business, time opened up again for productive creativity. Blunt Guts was born on Christmas Day in 2019 when he was given a Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator. Over the first few months of 2020, he wrote roughly twenty songs and released seven of them on July 26th entitled “Songs To Destroy The Cemetery To.” The album combines elements of Electronica, Hip Hop, and Industrial into a unique and new sound altogether . Although considered just an experiment, Jensen continues to  release music under the stage name "Blunt Guts," which uses a larger assortment of gear. than his previous music projects. THE NEW ALBUM

CRANBERRY BLOOD

"Cranberry Blood" was the first Blunt Guts album to debut on major streaming services in April of 2021. Writing for this album began immediately after the release of “Songs To Destroy The Cemetery To,” but this album would include a Korg Electribe, a couple pedals and some newly acquired trumpet skills. This time seven of the initial 20 songs were passed on to Austin "Chauncy Bill$up" Smith to be mixed and mastered. The other songs, mostly harsher material were set aside as b-sides and set to be released June 18, 2021 under the title "New Scabs to Pick at (the Cranberry Blook B-sides)."

Jensen also released several music videos during this time including a stop motion animation for his song "Sparks." He spent the second half of 2021 compiling songs from Erie's best dark electronica music artists. The compilation album, entitled Carnivorous Plants & Monochromatic Landscapes, came out in September of that year. This project brought Erie's obscure electronica community together and gave the artists a platform to share their work on streaming services.

In 2022, Jensen release even more music and is in the process of creating several music videos and remixes. Support his work by following him on major social media platforms and streaming services, linked at the bottom of this page.
